This moveable feast is always on a Thursday. It is a day off for most people. Schools, businesses, and shops in Norway are closed. Only certain small convenient stores and garden centers are open on Ascension Day.

Spring or Summer Long Weekend

Ascension Day is the 40th day of Easter. It occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday in spring or early summer, and it is popular to spend it outdoors or in the garden. However, using motorized lawn mowers or power tools is prohibited.

It is common to take the following Friday off too, creating a long weekend.
