Orthodox Good Friday 2025 in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Millions of Orthodox Christians commemorate Good Friday, also known as “Great Friday” to remember the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. The Orthodox Easter dates usually differ from the dates used by western churches because most Orthodox churches retained some version of the Julian calendar, which is older than the Gregorian calendar, commonly used today.

Is Orthodox Good Friday a Public Holiday?

Orthodox Good Friday is an optional holiday. Employment and holiday laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from a list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take the day off on this day, however, most offices and businesses remain open.
