Orthodox Easter Sunday 2025 in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Many Orthodox churches base their Easter date on the Julian calendar, which often differs from the Gregorian calendar that is used by many western countries. Therefore the Orthodox Easter period often occurs later than the Easter period that falls around the time of the March equinox.

Is Orthodox Easter Sunday a Public Holiday?

Orthodox Easter Sunday is an optional holiday. Employment and holiday laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from a list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take the day off on this day, however, most offices and businesses remain open.

It is common to crack or smash painted eggs on Orthodox Easter Day.
