Sunday, April 7, 2013: Australia and New Zealand end DST
Australia and New Zealand will end their Daylight Saving Time (DST) period on Sunday, April 7, 2013. In most areas, clocks will be turned back 1 hour from 3am (03:00) to 2am (02:00) local time. Some parts of Australia do not observe DST.

Affected areas
In Australia, DST is only observed in the south-eastern states. Clocks will be turned back in the following areas:
- Australian Capital Territory (e.g. Canberra)
- New South Wales (e.g. Sydney)
- South Australia (e.g. Adelaide)
- Tasmania (e.g. Hobart)
- Victoria (e.g. Melbourne)
- Lord Howe Island – clocks move back by 30 minutes instead of 1 hour.

All parts of New Zealand observe DST, including the 3 major cities:
Clocks on the Chatham Islands, which represent New Zealand's second time zone, will be turned back by 1 hour from 3:45am (03:45) to 2:45am (02:45) local time.

The northern and western parts of Australia do not observe DST, so the clocks will not change in the following areas:

Australia will switch back to DST on October 6, 2013. The Daylight Saving Time schedule there runs from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April each year.
In New Zealand, clocks will be advanced to New Zealand Daylight Time (NZDT) on September 29, 2013. DST is observed there from the last Sunday in September to the first Sunday in April.
